The Peregrine Fund’s American Kestrel Partnership is a network of community and professional scientists working to collaboratively understand kestrel demographics and advance kestrel conservation.

AKP data management is on the move!

We are currently transitioning our data management system to Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s NestWatch. The entire AKP database is being migrated to the NestWatch database, and starting in March 2024, AKP partners will use NestWatch’s tools to manage their previously entered nest box monitoring data, as well as enter and manage data from the 2024 breeding season and beyond.

Please note: partners SHOULD NOT enter any data through NestWatch until this transition is complete. Doing so will result in both unnecessary work for you and likely create duplicate data and/or other errors. We will notify our partners via email and on social media once the transition is complete. If you don’t receive our emails already, sign up here to make sure you’re notified when the migration is complete and data entry for 2024 is open.

Questions? We’ve got answers. Read the full details of the transition here, or check out our summary here if you’re pressed for time. Still confused? Email us at kestrelpartnership@peregrinefund.org.

Thank you for your participation in the American Kestrel Partnership!

Where are the partnership nests?

The number on each pin shows the number of nest records registered with the AKP near that location. Nest records do not incorporate occupancy or observation data.*

**Note: This map does not show precise nest record locations. Rather, "pins" are general locations somewhere within ~seven-miles of the nests' actual coordinates. The number in each pin is the number of boxes in that ~seven-mile square block.

By the numbers:

 2,414 partners

 5,237 nests registered

 60,057 observations recorded
